Since we opened our doors in 2002, we've tested, experimented with, and refined our brewing and service methods to consistently exceed the level of excellence our customers have come to expect from our coffees.

Join us for a class that goes beyond craft. Let's take a step back and think about the big picture, starting with a thought-provoking session on customer service and hospitality. How do we give our guests an experience they'll want to share? How should we talk about coffees? What happens when problems arise? We'll discuss these questions and more to help raise your customer experience game. We'll then explore the story a coffee seed and its journey through cultivar, terroir, harvest, process, storage, and roast. You will gain the knowledge you need to help your guests make more enlightened decisions.

This class explores what to know, what to taste for, and how to brew consistently great coffee whether its on a cafe brew bar, a batch system, or even at home. By digging into coffee's flavors, how it extracts, and the differences between methods, you'll be able to get more out of your brews. We'll utilize concepts like ratio, sour, grind, sweet, contact time, and bitter to get you better dialed-in with your palate and coffee.

Want to make a more delicious cup of coffee at home? This course will demystify the process by covering the fundamentals of brewing coffee, including grind size, water temperature, and brew time. We will demonstrate how different brew methods and filters affect what you taste and the best ways to brew with an automatic dripper. Come learn how to make your morning cup absolutely tasty.

Espresso+Milk@Home

You have a machine and grinder. Just plug and play, right? If only it were that simple! Lucky you - we can assist you in learning how to make espresso simply, deliciously, and consistently. Maybe cappuccinos are your ritual. We've got you covered there too. From microfoam to grind, we'll teach what you need to know to pull smooth shots and steam velvety milk.

Intermediate Espresso: Recipe + Flow

An essential topic for all baristas, new or old. This course moves beyond the basics to cover the shot-to-shot variable that most fundamentally alters your espresso extraction: recipe. From dose to beverage weight, we'll use scales to dial-in and work to understand how different roast levels and ages of roast affects your recipe!

Stretch Yourself: A Milk + Latte Art Lab

Well-crafted milk paired with a great shot of espresso creates a delightfully harmonious experience. Milk designs, also known as latte art, are a great visual way to let your customers know that you are focused on your craft. Please join us to learn about this sweet, creamy ingredient used around the world in conjunction with our favorite beverage. From whole to skim to non-dairy milks, we will detail the concepts and mechanics of proper steaming and pouring of latte art, followed by hands-on practice.

Sensory Skills: A Flavor Workshop

Baristas spend a lot of time learning and perfecting the physical behaviors of making coffee, but so often the taste component falls by the wayside. In this class, we'll explore the ins and outs of coffee flavor - how to taste, how to articulate what you've experienced, and where that flavor originates. We'll taste different coffees and solutions, use a microscope to look closer, and even try our hand at flavor pairing. By the end, you'll be a pro at distinguishing between sour and bitter, answering which coffee has more caffeine, and more!

From backflushing to programming to cleaning burrs, you'll walk away knowing how to keep all of your cafe equipment running smoothly and your coffee tasting great.

Exploring Extraction + Technique

For those baristas already fluent in espresso fundamentals, this class is designed to facilitate a deeper exploration of espresso. Take your craft to the next level, as we theorize and get hands-on with topics like ratios, water, extraction, flavor compounds, sensory analysis, single-origins vs. blends, advanced problem solving, and machine maintenance.
