Supremely sweet, brown coffee with chocolate notes in a light-medium profile

Nestled in the central mountains of Veracruz, Mexico, Coatepec is surrounded by diverse terrain of winding trails, rolling hills, and cascading waterfalls. Here, coffee is more than a crop, it's a deep-rooted tradition. Local producers describe coffee cultivation as a year-round labor of love, passed down through generations.

Located on the lower slopes of the Cofre del Perote volcano, Coatepec benefits from rich, fertile soil ideal for a wide variety of crops. Its proximity to the Gulf of Mexico brings cold northern winds, limiting coffee cultivation to elevations below 2,000 meters due to the constant risk of frost at higher altitudes.

In addition to coffee, local farmers grow corn, lemons, avocados, and vegetables for both personal use and local markets. Most farms in the area are small, typically 2 to 3 hectares, and rely on family labor during the harvest season, rarely hiring outside workers. Shade is provided by native trees such as banana, Chalahuitl, and Encino. With a strong tradition of organic farming, producers commonly use chicken manure and other natural fertilizers to nourish their land.

Coatepec is ultra-sweet, well-balanced, and full-bodied, a true comfort coffee. Its cozy, chocolatey notes are reminiscent of a mug of hot cocoa. We recommend this light-medium roast for press pot, auto-drip, or immersion brewers. It also shines as a sweet, light espresso.

Light Brown

Reliable, all-day brown coffees balance sweet and toasty with a hint of excitement, creating well-liked flavors of milk chocolate, caramels, and vanilla ice cream.
