A washed coffee from northern Peru
Milk chocolate and pleasant dried fruit notes with brown sugar sweetness
Ukuku is a character from Andean mythology. I'll spare you the unsavory details of Ukuku's parentage; but Ukuku is a half man, half bear and has come to symbolize strength and wisdom in Andean folklore. Ukuku is a protector of the community and the environment, apt characteristics of the coffee producers in this region of Peru today. Coffee growers from Cutevero and Jaén come from a variety of agricultural backgrounds and have worked tirelessly over the past several years to improve their coffee quality and in turn, have strengthened their communities and environmental stewardship of the rich and biodiverse land around them. This coffee represents the work of 20 producers in Cajamarca department of northern Peru. Producers regularly help each other with farm tasks, working together to cultivate this delicious coffee.
This is a high elevation coffee, grown at heights ranging between 1550 and 2000 masl. This elevation and the farms' locations near the San Andrés National Reserve and Huamantanga Forest provide rich biodiversity and ideal microclimates for specialty coffee production.
This is a delicious northern Peruvian coffee with notes of milk chocolate, light caramel, dried fruit, and malic acidity, set off by a medium body and brown sugar sweetness. For a filter brew, we recommend a 1:15 (coffee to filtered water) ratio.
Light Brown
Reliable, all-day brown coffees balance sweet and toasty with a hint excitement, creating well-liked flavors of milk chocolate, caramels, and vanilla ice cream.
